Bubble Painting

By: Evan Neidich

Painting with bubbles is a delightful and relaxing activity to do together! We use colorful bubble solutions and our breath to create paintings!

Materials you will need

● Small bubble wand containers

● Food coloring

● Bubble solution

● Water

● Paper- watercolor paper is best. It is nice to have some different size options

● Paper towels

● Small funnel (helpful but optional)

How to prepare

1. Prepare bubble solution by following the directions on the bottle for water to concentrate

ratio

2. Fill bubble wands a little over half way

3. Add food coloring, 8-16 drops depending on how saturated you would like the color

4. Try to have the color match the wand container color so artists can make choices about

what colors they want to use in their art

5. Put cap back on and gently shake each container

6. Cut paper to different sizes

This experience can be an experiment! Here are some questions to consider:

● What happens when you blow hard vs. soft?

● What happens when you hold the want close to the paper vs. far from the paper?

● What happens when you let the wind blow the bubbles onto the paper?

This project can also be an opportunity to talk about breathing and how it can help us get

energized or relaxed.

Caregiver tip: So often in life we are focussed on the product or outcome of our work, or getting

things “right.” What would it feel like if we let this experience be about the process and gave

ourselves permission to play? What would modeling that attitude do for others around us?
